The Long Walk Home’s first hiking/camping bootcamp challenge!
Jan 6-8, 2022, at the Myakka State Park Campground, Sarasota, Florida.
Come hike and camp, with us in Florida! This hiking/camping event is for Veterans and/or their families.
Adults only. Ages 18 and older.
Take the 10 Challenges to Service, with us during this event. This is the first step to becoming a mentor for The Long Walk Home.
Be prepared to hike on uneven terrain for approximately 5-7 miles per day and camp overnight.
Recommended items to bring are tents, backpack, bedroll/sleeping bag, and trekking poles, along with packable lunches, with items like protein bars, beef jerky, or peanut butter and crackers.
Breakfast and Dinner will be provided.
If you have an extra tent or air mattress, and you live locally, and are willing to lend them for this camping challenge, please let us know. If you are unable to come, yourself, but would still like to help, this is a way to help those that would like to come, but have the needed supplies.
The attending group will be divided into squads, with squad leaders. If you are one of our mentors, please let us know if you would like to lead a squad.

Ticket price: There is a $75.00 deposit required to register. $50.00 of that $75.00 is refundable after the event. If you cancel, the full $75.00 is forfeited. If you don’t finish, the deposit is forfeited. Once you complete the hiking/camping weekend, you will have the opportunity to get the $50.00 refund or pay it forward, whatever you choose.
